The Golden Owl Sports & Recreation Club is pleased to launch the Golden Owl Education Support Initiative, a program dedicated to improving access to education in rural schools affected by the recent floods and land slides

Recent floods in the Nattandiya area have caused severe damage to communities, schools, and livelihoods. In the Kottaramulla region alone, six lives were tragically lost, and many families—who mainly depend on agriculture and livestock management—have lost their primary sources of income. To make a meaningful and immediate impact, we have decided to support two schools that were directly affected:

• Medagoda Primary School (~60 students / Grades 1–5)

• Isipathana College, Pahala Kottaramulla (~195 students /Grades 1–O/L)

At this stage, our priority is to support the immediate recommencement of education in the flood-affected schools. The total estimated cost is LKR 400,000 (~CAD 1700), and every contribution—big or small—will help restore learning, stability, and hope for children impacted by the floods.

The listed items are carried out as per the requests of the respective School Development Boards and the Zonal Education Office.

These items are essential for preparing lesson materials, conducting classroom activities, and enabling students to resume their studies without further delay. 

Coordination & Transparency :

This initiative is being carried out in coordination with the Zonal Education Office, with formal documentation to be obtained through the relevant School Development Boards. All assistance is planned in consultation with education authorities to ensure resources are appropriate, necessary, and responsibly delivered.
